How do I operate a UK electric tea kettle in the US?

I bought an electric tea kettle from the UK, can I use it by simply buying a plug adapter or must I buy a voltage converter as well? I read that it would work fine with just an adapter but will take longer to operate. I'm concerned about blowing my kettle or my outlet so do I need a voltage converter too? My kettle is 220-240v 50/60Hz 1850-2200W.

it should be fine with an adapter....220 uses two 120v lines U.S. only supplies one 120v line to your average household receptacle (exception; stove, dryer, etc...) using 120v would make it take longer, a voltage converter prob isn't necessary since the adapter is doing its job

You can simply plug it in after buying a plug adapter since your kettle's voltage capacity is higher than your line voltage - but it will be operating at half the power because your outlet is giving it only half of the voltage it requires. It will output only 925-1100 watts which means it would take longer to heat up.
