How can you stop having so many dreams at night?

For the past few months, I have been having like 5 dreams a night and waking up really tired and confused because I couldn't remember what actually happened and what happened in my dreams. I get plenty of sleep. For a while they went away but they came back last night and I think I had the same dream like 3 times. Three different people had to wake me up this morning because I was so tired. Is there anyway to stop all this dreaming and why is it happening?

Update:

Thank you so much.. I will definitely try this!!!

Dreaming happens in the REM stage of sleep (which is basically not a very deep stage of sleep). So the fact that you've been dreaming a lot suggests that you've not managed to get into a deep enough sleep state to rest properly. And that's why you've been so tired.

Ways to tackle this; has anything changed in your bedroom environment? Change it back!

Have a hot bath before bed, a hot drink. Stay off the computer!!

Try herbal remedies like rescue remedy, valerian and lavendar.

    Buy a herbal sleeping tablet.

As a last resort, see your doctor for a short course of sleeping tablets.

    Are you anxious about anything?...

If this carries on or begins to cause you extreme distress, you must see a doctor, who can maybe refer you for a sleep study.
