PhD in photography or lens technology?

I am an Instrumentation engineer and want to peruse PhD in such a field which will help me to do work on SLR camera lens designing, CCD interfaced picture editing and related things; so that finally I can contribute in designing a new technology camera.

Can anyone help me to find the suitable course?
