Does running your automobile AC on the max setting shorten the life of your AC?

Or does running it on Max simply cut the outside air off from entering the system and therefore just uses the cooler air inside the car to circulate?

"MAX" setting sets the air duct door to inside air to eliminate outside humid air. This setting provides "MAX" cooling for fast and continued comfort.

Older vehicle compressors ran when the A/C was engaged. The newer units cycle frequently - still providing adequate cooling and some improvement in gas mileage.

Running the car on Max AC keeps the compressor clutch engaged constantly, which takes wear off the clutch, but transfers that to the compressor. That really doesn't matter though because if the compressor clutch did give, its better to replace the entire compressor anyway.
