How many Horses do you like to choose in UK Tipster Comps?

Do you prefer to go through the card at a particular race meeting

(ie 7 in goodwood comp)

or

Do you prefer to pick only three races and have a reserve?

( a des comp)

Next Event will be the EBOR meeting at York in a couple of weeks!

Update:

hi des, my question is aimed at the special meetings throughout the year that we have. I have known them to be through the card and also 3 and a reserve. I was just doing a quick poll to see what most prefer.

Your comp is world famous and is known in all the corners of the universe as des's saturday comp....you need to get a trademark!! haha...long may it continue as des's!....(just look into you bookmaker line as previously queried....im not moaning ;o) ).

Hi Mark...As my reserve usually ends up as my sole winner, I think I would prefer to go through the card as we did with the Goodwood compy this week.

In the case of Des's regular Saturday tipster compy where there are multiple meetings to choose from the 3 horse plus 1 reserve is ideal.

Chosing 3 horses at one meeting can end up with lots of us selecting the same horses, but when you have to sort out a 2yo race (for example) with most of the runners having their maiden race, that is a tougher task.

Looking forward to the Ebor meeting (and the compy), and 3 cheers for all your hard work this week...Jac x

PS..Hey I just answered a question before Kezza, he must be off celebrating or out buying himself a new state of the art tent for the Ebor compy.x

hi mark .... intresting question and intresting answers

for me i prefer to pick 4 horses 3Xwinners 1Xreserve

as for the special meetings comps i think they work a treat and have been a 6 or 7 horse comp for as long as i can remember they are very succsesful and well posted .

when october comes we see the end of the flat comp and as last year the oppertunity will arise for anyone (inside or outside our community) to take over the saturday comp , doing this will give the person the chance to make any changes they might think is better.

iam aware that some players dont like the idea of getting 1 point for a 15/8 winner ?

i will never change this rule as i think it encourages us to look beyond favourites

also another unpopular rule is the more than one horse in the same race = well this rule must stick now as it caused so much contraversity (excuse spelling)

ive had players email me moaning about the 30min deadline ? err ?

sorry to waffle on and completely go of the subject mark just wanted to point out its not des,s comp but its the sat tipster comp and in october its open to anyone to run it .

anyway great question mark and welldone with that goodwood comp to be able to host it as good as jacqui does takes some skill !!!!

The way my luck was going at Goodwood I'd need to pick out every horse in every race to get a winner! *drowning sorrows with a rather large Gin & Tonic* Seriously, Des's comp is great stuff but I find that going through the card at any given meeting more enjoyable.

Marvellous comp MrBookie, you deserve a medal for running it so well!

    Greetings MrB..

Both comps are equal to me..the season comps take a lot of winning with great tipsters competing.just look at the top leaderboard on des`s comp..amazing stuff..

The mini comps are a side treat but just as entertaining where us lesser mortals can win.lol

I enjoy all the comps...its great to see people putting their selections up..win or lose its all good fun.

I think it's great having to make a selection for each race for the big meetings. It gives us an interest for each race and it makes the compy competitive right to the last race.

Only downside is that it's more work for you.

I'm sitting on the fence on this one, I wouldn't want Des's compy to change format, but it was a nice change picking one in every race for a mini compy. Both ways are fun, and challenging in there own ways. Thanks for the great Goodwood Compy Mr. Bookie and thanks to Des for running the greatest weekly compy on the planet. Cheers ;)

Hi ,Mrb,I think the 7 horses is a good way of doing your compy.Someone could sneak a big priced winner from the 7 races, which are normally big fields,so yes keep it the way you are doing it.Cheers mate,Stevie.

goodwood was great fun but prefer 4choices then you dont have to pick something you dont fancy although it seems its those that win -!how about a best outsider(10/1 plus) that counts double for all of us chasing a leader ?

Lets stick with how it is . Its a nice change to Dessies comp
