Rangers trade Saltalamacchia, your thoughts?

The Rangers traded Jaord Saltalamacchia to the Red Sox. In return they got RHP Romen Mendez, 1B Chris McGuiness, player to be named, and money.

Do you like this trade?

Who will get the better end of the deal?

Good riddance Salty. You tried and tried but Texas just wasn't the place for you. Hope everything turns out better with the Sox.

I love this trade. I got sick of Salty's slow development. He had problems with his throwing mechanics that it was too painful for me to watch.

For now, I'd say the Sox got the better end of this deal since its more likely he'll be playing at the big league level. Otherwise, I think the deal works well for both clubs.

  • I think it was a good trade for the Rangers and the Red Sox. Red Sox needed a catcher, so they got Salty.

I think Im going to go with the Red Sox in terms of the better end of the deal.

    Red Sox fan here:

I loooove it. I've liked Jarrod Saltalamacchia for awhile now. I'm thrilled. We need a catcher with VMart's and Varitek's contracts end at the end of the season. Kevin Cash and Dusty Brown are barely okay. I love the fact we have Saltalamacchia. Made me day, haha (let's just say it's been a bad day).

I think the Sox got the better deal.

I'm glad we finally got a good catcher to replace jason varitek, eventually. I'm just worried about Romen Mendez. He put up some good numbers with the DSL Red Sox (2.65 era, 46 K's in 51 innings) and Gulf Coast Red Sox (1.99 era, 47 K's in 49.2 innings). Overall, I like how were adding depth at catcher.

Salty will come around with more experience. The Rangers acquired Molina so there was no need for them to wait on Salty's growth. Boston may have the edge on this deal.

The guy was a great prospect not long ago. I'm happy the Sox picked him up. As long as it's not an excuse not to re-sign V-Mart.
