Thats impossible...if you have a new computer...and you have a USB port in front of the tower or in back you can use ....the flash drives should work...this one has me puzzled as to why it won't....the other thing you can do...is burn your documents and pictures and some of the programs to a disk on the older computer...then place that disk into the new computer and upload.....copying disc's are cheap to buy.....as long as the older computer has a writing capability disk drive.......

Is this an older laptop by any chance?

Some have a slot (about 2-1/4" wide) which can accommodate a USB 2.0 card which will do the job of fast transfer.

Newegg.com has many adapters for upgrading different ports & slots.

    Give them a look see.

Don't both machines (old and new) have a DVD burner?

A blank DVD will hold 4.7 GB of data that can be burnt and then transfered to your new machine.

External hard drive --you should be using one anyway in case your computer dies

Online storage is another option you should be using
