what type of car does tom cruise drive in 'War of the Worlds'?

black with yellow stripes, driven right at the beginning by him and his 'son' in the 2005 version War of the Worlds

    Unfortunately? It would have to be a 67 to be a GT500...the 66 engine bay was way to small for the 428 engine, thus there were none..

    The car in the movie that Tom Cruise is driving is a 1966 Ford Mustang G.T. 350. Yes it is a Shelby, but unfortunately not the G.T. 500. Still a very sexy, sleek, amazing piece of American motor history.
