How to wean my orphan pups?
Ok, I have 2 orphan pups (they will be 4 weeks tomorrow) and I know Im around the time to start weaning them. I would like to stop bottle feeding them as soon as I can- I dont mind the workload and ofcoarse I will care for them, but if you've ever orphaned puppies you know how tiring the time spent is..expecially when ur gonna start 11th grade n a few weeks!
So here's how I feed them now--
about 4 oz each ever 4 hours or so.
Sound good?
Their gonna be bigger dog, shepherd mutts.
Is this the right way to wean them-
get warm canned food and mix water in it to make a greul- then feed it to them in a saucer?
if so- how often and how much??
ok, sounds great!about when should i start doing that? 4 1/2 weeks?

You can start feeding them puppy food now.Dry pup food softened with warm water to start.Offer dry as free feeding too.You may be surprised at how soon they eat it dry.Get a small kibble meal for pups.Keep water available.

Some people start to wean at 4 weeks, but it is better to wait till they are 5-6 weeks if you can. Get puppy chow and mix it with warm canned puppy milk to make a gruel and look on the box to see how much they should get. It will tell you what amount to feed them I would put it in a clean metal pie pan. It is less messy and it won't break. I would do this a couple of times a day. Just keep checking them and make sure they are eating. Do not over-feed, but make sure they are getting enough. Congrats to you for doing this. Your parents must be very proud of you.

Nope take some drie dog food and either - grind it in a coffee grinder or blender and mix in some of the replacement milk you are using and warm water - put it down and let them eat. If you don't have a way of grinding it - you can just soak it to mush. Just remember to give them water too so they don't dehydrate. I would do that 3 times a day.
