Does anyone else think it's weird that they do extensive bios for contestants of "Minute to Win It"?

So I'm watching the show on NBC right now, and there are these random strangers competing for money, which is fine. But they keep taking breaks in the game to delve into the personal lives of the contestants. It's not just a quick recap like they do in the beginning of Jeopardy. It's an ongoing, tear-jerking, sappy series of cheesiness accompanied with sentimental music. Their families are usually part of it, too. I don't get it. Just play the damn game. We don't care about how your dad overcame cancer. Or how proud your parents are of you that you are trying to win money on a show using common household items. If you were Hillary Clinton, maybe I'd care about all those details. But you are just a random person, so all I care about is how well you play the game. Does anyone else agree with me? lol
