Photo-electric effect: Can someone please help?

Hello,

How can I calculate the work function (eV) of the material used to demonstrate the photo electric effect? I have the wavelength (in nm) and the threshold frequency (in Hz)

Thanks

Update:

Also, this is the most important:

b. Calculate the maximum velocity of the electrons produced when calcium is illuminated by light of wavelength 3,6 x 10^-7 m

    a) the work function of a metal will be calculate by the relation

    W = h vo , where 'h' is called planck's constant with a value 6.624x10^-34 J-s, while 'vo' is the threshold frequency.

    b) the maximum kinetic energy of electrons emitted from a metal will be

    1 /2 m v^2 = h c / lambda - W, where lambda = 3.6 x10^-7 m ( given) and 'v' is the maximum velocity of the electrons. you have to solve this using the work function value of Calcium, which you have not given in the question. try for yourself this. o.k

    may be or may not be, because if u r providing electro magnetic waves of a fixed frequency then if it emits electrons from one metal then it might not possible for differnt metal as the em waves that u r providing may be equal to the threshhold frequency of the other metal to emit electrons, but yes if threshold frequency of both metals is same and if in 1st on geven circumstances if electrons emits then definitly it will so same effect in other. (note: gud ques!!!)
