A lot of Bleacher Report writers are amateur sports writers and bloggers who post their opinions. It's a forum if you want to get your ideas out there and have others respond to you. I know high school and college kids who are aspiring sports writers use this site as a stepping stone.
The headline for this article was dumb, no one deserves an injury like this. I disagree with this writer, I have no idea how many articles he has out, but this was amateur. The article in itself isn't terrible, he had some points about Rookie mistakes, but saying he deserved it was in poor taste.

That's insane. No one "deserves" to get injured.
I've never really read Bleacher Report, but if that's any indication of the type of stuff they write, then I doubt I will start now.
Hardball Talk - the website in the link - is very good, though. I follow a couple of the writers on Twitter. One is a great Twins blogger from here in MN.

I watched that game. The catcher has the right to block the plate and the runner has the right to try to knock the ball loose or slide around the tag. Catching is a high risk position, but deserve it? No. I disagree.

I can't believe how stupid and heartless this writer must be to say Santana deserved it. I was watching the game and Santana's injury was just horrible to watch. He just lay there for about 5 minutes hardly moving. It really freaked me out.
Of course it's his job to block the plate. He didn't deserve it AT ALL. What a freaking moron this writer is!

I don't think its right to say he deserved the injury. I hope he recovers, and nobody likes to see a player get injured. But if he, a young catcher whose still learning, blocks the plate wrong, then he could get injured and hes just gona have to live with the result. Sure I feel bad for him, but he needs to learn on how to protect himself from getting injured.

I agree if you look at where his leg was it should have been injured. He was in a bad position and its a rookie mistake.
