Although Damselflies are usually smaller than dragonflies, there is a species of Damselfly which is larger than the largest species of Dragonfly.
The Megaloprepus caerulatus has a wingspan of up to 170mm, and is a forest dwelling species, where interestingly, it uses the water in the hollows of tree root buttresses as a small individual "pond"
The largest true Dragonfly is Petalura ingentissima or Giant Petaltail of Queensland, Australia, with a wingspan of around 160mm
However, Damselflies are not Dragonflies, and although larger, the damselfly listed has a very thin body and looks a lot more delicate than the more bulky Dragonfly which is probably much heavier.
