Is there an age that is too old to have a baby?

My neighbor just had twins at 54. She's a great, healthy and intelligent person. I know she'll be a wonderful mom. What age do you think is too old. I would say 55 although if a woman is still having her period and would make a good mom, then go for it.

IMO, a woman should be done with having children by age 40.

A woman is too old to have a baby after menopause. If she is able to get pregnant naturally and is healthy and active enough to care for her child, then there is nothing wrong with it. I'm not sure I would want to have a baby (certainly not twins!) at 54 - at that age I'd rather have grandkids! - but if someone else wants to that's their decision and I don't have a problem with it.
