Why do the twins need a starter for Wednesday ?
I starting watching today's Twins game as they were talking about Glen Perkins being needed for Wednesday ( he is in AAA ) . Why do they need him ? None of the starting pitchers are hurt and are pitching pretty descent as of late and Duensing deserves his spot in the rotation . We have a day off on Monday and this means the SP will get and extra day off . Why do they need two days off if this is the reason ?
Very confusing to me .
Yes, I know most of you are NOT twins fans and have no idea what I'm talking about, but for those of you who watched today's game and listened to Dick and Bert talk about this please answer my question .
Thanks !!!

The idea is to push each pitcher's next start back a day to give them more time to rest and recuperate. This is similar to what the Rays did against game 1 versus the Twins, called up a pitcher to pitch one day and then sent him back to the minors. Hopefully each pitcher will come out stronger in their next outing.

Kevin Slowey has soreness in his right elbow, so his start was pushed back to next Sunday. Glen Perkins will pitch in his spot in the rotation on Wednesday.

Kevin Slowey has a sore shoulder so they want to either push him back a day or skip his next start.
