A question about my period?

I'm a little embarrassed to tell my mom that I had my period. I'm 13 but I'm lost. So is there blood in the toilet bowl when I pee or when I wipe the vaginal area with toilet paper. Whenever I go to the bathroom the pee is just really yellow but when I wipe there's blood on the toilet paper. Is that normal?

Yes. It's normal. Blood Just isn't dripping into the toilet. I bet you may be having a light flow. No worries.

Tell your mom. She can help you go through this milestone in your life (:

Yes! That's exactly how a normal period looks. Your pee still looks yellow (not red) because it comes out of a different place than the blood comes out of. Pee comes out of the urethra, a hole closer to the front of you (or top of that area, if you're sitting), while the blood comes out of your actual vagina (the hole farther back, or lower down if you're sitting).

At 13 you might have a hard time figuring out how to insert a tampon (I know I did), so just start with pads. The package will have easy directions on it.

I'm sorry you're too embarrassed to tell your mom. Do you really think she won't react well? Remember, she gets a period herself every month (or if she's older, she used to get them for years). It's a really good idea to just tell your mom, but if you really feel you can't, check out all the great resources online for info. Just make sure it's a reputable website like WebMD or a medical site specifically for women, and NOT some guy's Myspace page.

You don't pee blood when you have your period. Period blood comes from your vaginal canal which is not the same place pee comes from. So yes, you would see it when you wipe. I think you should speak to your mom about it because she will be excited and would talk to you about it as I'm sure most moms would be! Congratulations!!
