Is 'clevering' a word?

As in the adjective 'clever' magically transformed into a verb by adding 'ing' on the end. used in the capacity of 'clevering off'.

Please respond.

no. There is no verb "clever". Adding íng wouldn't make anything into a verb, anyway. ing makes a verb into a gerund (noun) or present participle (form of a verb.)

If you use that, you might be understood, but it would be understood you were making up your own word. Don't use it for formal situations.

No. This making nouns and verbs from non nouns and non verbs is getting ridiculous.

Like people who use the word "conversating" huh???

NO!..there is no verb 'to clever'...so 'clevering' does not exist either. You can have the adverb, though...'cleverly'.

No. Making clever is possible, but not clevering.
