Can anyone tell me some of the BEST Army bases, in the US and Outside as well?
I'm basing the best on, nice living area, things to do in a nearby town, fun for children and people young at heart. Even some outdoorsy type activities would be great to know about. I know someone doing their "Wish List" , thanks!

OMG...you need to come to Hawaii...the housing here is by far the BEST. There are tons of places just for military families. There are these beautiful cottages by the ocean, activities galore, and if you are lucky enough to get stationed on the windward side, it's quiet and your back yard overlooks beautiful, wide open ocean and huge rocks, its just gorgeous. The only catch is that you have to be ok with not being able to drive to your hometown. I get homesick, but hey, it's only for a few years!
Hands down...Oahu, Hawaii

Ft. Carson, CO.
Colorado Springs is great. Two malls, the Olympic training center, Pikes Peak, zoo, Garden of the Gods and Denver is onlly 60 miles away.
New housing was going up when I left in 2004.
Lots of great winter and sumer activities.

Fort Benning has provided my Brigade great family housing and support. There is a whole Armor Section coming soon and they are building a lot of new, modern, housing plots. The Columbus area is a great place if you like hunting, fishing, swimming and the whole gamut of outdoor fun. It's about two 1/2 hours to Atlanta, and alot of guys head to Florida for vacations.
I have also heard nothing but good raves about Ft.Lewis when it comes to family and the local area.

Does not make a "rats rear end" what goes on the "dream sheet" you go where you go. Kinda like cards getting tossed out on a Poker Table. They get request from units and fill them by puling up lists of available recent AIT grads and active duty also getting to the end of a tour.
If you stay in HI, Ft. Lewis, VA, Germany and Italy would give one a well rounded 20.

Any base where a Divisions isn't stationed, seriously. Ft Hood, Bliss, Drum and Bragg are all crappy places to get stationed at.
Any other Army base.
