Where is a good vacation place that is not expensive?
I have not seen my best friend in 5 years and we are wanting to go on a small vacation. Money is tight though. Any good ideas of where to go?

Visiting the United States National Parks is a great way to take an inexpensive vacation and see the great outdoors.
Park fees extremely reasonable, camping is cheap, and many resorts are inexpensive.
And…the beauty, majesty and serenity of the parks is always good for the soul.
An inexpensive cruise can be a lot of fun as well.
With the price of a cruise you are able to stretch your vacation dollars significantly—if not dramatically.
For the price of a standard cruise you get:
• A clean and attractive (but usually small) room
• 3 tasty meals a day
• Great service by friendly staff
• Snacks until late in the evening
• Excellent entertainment
• Shore leave to some fascinating ports
Best,
Chuck

In my opinion a vacation trip to Colorado can be a best option, for a low priced vacation trip you can enroll with any of the local ranches like Sombrero where you will get varied vacation packages for you including your friends and family. The Ranches are located near rocky mountain national park, I have been there for a horse back vacation and the vacation was worth it. Enjoying scenic woods on horseback is very much like a fairy tale adventure as you enjoy natural wild life beauty of coyote, elk and deer in their natural habitat.

I would suggest the Outer Banks, North Carolina if that isn't too far for you. There are cheap places to stay and once you arrive you hardly spend any money. It isn't very commercial at all down south on the island, but there's still tons to do and the beaches aren't too crowded.
Hope this helped :)
