What should I do about the wet dirt problem in our stalls?

For the smell i would use stabilized lyme along with some shavings or stall dry ( my favorite)

If your water buckets are on the ground look into getting some that hang on the wall...

You could also get stall mats and use shavings or stall dry as bedding to soak up the wetness.. adding sand isn't going to help.

You need to look at better drainage. Adding sand wont fix anything if it's not hard packed and tilted to drain.

What about your bedding? The bedding should be soaking up a lot of the pee.

Also, sprinkle Lye on the floor after you clean, under the bedding this will help with smell.

we have pipe stalls so we dig a drainage system to the hill behind the stalls. we also have um like pebbles outside the stalls outside the barn and they drain the water pretty well. also i would move the horses innto dry stall until the wet ones dry out. u can add sand, but wet sand is nasty...

I would use a base of pea size gravel and a layer of sand, if you can dig down 3-4 " and put down the gravel first, this will make for a good base that will drain pretty good, good luck and God Bless
