Windows XP Activation dilemma?
Hi guys i really hope you can help me out here
I have had to completely reinstall windows xp home on a friends computer as her operating system had become corrupted and couldnt be recovered the operating system is windows xp home edition i used a copy of windows that my mums computer came with and reformatted hard drive
Like a dummy i didnt record the original activation code that came the computer and so the product code on the bottom of the machine wont work!
ive tried key generator software and they havent helped me so.... PLEASE can you help me!!

i dont want to pay for the code as it did have one in the first place
there MUST be a way of getting a code for free surely? other people have!

depending on which XP version you installed depends on WHICH windows XP KEY you need. You can by pass it but that's another story. IF you installed Windows XP version off your mom's computer JUST use her KEY on her computer. It'll work as long as you dont' use it 4 million times.

You'll need to contact the computer manufacturer and order OS discs for that machine. Discs from another make of computer will not work with the activation code on the bottom (as you have found out) Discs should only be about $30.
