How much money do one hit wonders make?

How much money would an artist him/herself make for one song going platinum? What about every additional time it goes platinum? If an artist got very little ongoing airplay or royalties, how much would they have made?

    It really depends on how much the song is played, and how much it is #1 on charts.

    I can do it on 5000 a month US and live very comfortably, but I don't live in a big city. If I lived in a city, it would take 8000 or 9000 to live the same standard.
