Is there an emcee that has actually "improved"?
I always hear that rappers out there aren't as good as they used to be.
(Jay-Z, Nas, Em, Snoop, etc.)
Are there artists off the top of your head that you can name that have actually gotten better throughout the years? Underground or mainstream.

Well it depends on your taste in music, I really think that Nas has been perfecting his style (I mean did you hear distant relatives? That album was amazing) and eminem has deffinatly changed his style, I mean going from his deep rhymes of infinite to "my name is" it just seems like he dumbed down his lyrics to appeal to a more mainstream audience but he's still doing his thing. But some other artists that have improved, well method man would be the first that comes to mind but Rick Ross has reached a great level (some are even saying he's gonna be bigger than biggie!) and as for underground artists mf doom has also been pushing the bar. Also j dilla (may he rest in peace) did nothing but come out with quality music, bringing something new to the table. Madlib also never stops! I don't really think that artists aren't as good anymore. But times change and it really just depends how they adapt! Sometimes they know exactly how to husstle the game and sometimes they think they do but are mad cheezy lol. Spread that good music!

Masta Ace.
Masta Ace is the only rapper I can think of who's actually gotten better with each of his solo albums.
A Long Hot Summer (2004) > Disposable Arts (2001) > Sittin on Chrome (1998) > Slaughtahouse (1995) > Take a Look Around (1990)
^^^ And I disagree with Andre 3000
He was way better on ATLiens/Aquemini than anything he's done in the last 10 years. Just cause SPCM wasn't as good as their second album doesn't mean he's gotten progressively better.

2Pac did improve when he was alive, He went from 2Pacalypse to Me Against The World.
Also even if you hate it Lil Wayne did improve. Listen to Tha Block Is Hot then Tha Carter 2 and tell me he hasn't gotten better
Ludacris was getting better until his last 2 albums.
Also agree with Masta Ace getting better
I'm sure theres more

R.A. The Rugged Man.
On his Crustified Dibbs ish, his flow wasn't established yet. Some of his tracks on Night of The Bloody Apes are terrible. But over the years he's gotten better and better. His most recent verse on Vinnie Paz's Nosebleed is one of his most mature features (not his best, but its still great).

I think Andre 3000 improved as an emcee as his career progressed. SPCM sounds wierd to hear now knowing how he rhymes and you can see huge improvment from that to Aquemini.
BKS: that's fair enough. i just took him to mean has anyone ever improved after their first couple albums but the way you put it your right that he might not qualify.
