My dog barely uses his back leg!?

ok so when my dog was 10 weeks old (he is now 2 years old) my brother accidentally hurt his left back leg. He cried for about 5 minutes then he was fine. About a year ago, we noticed he was limping barely enough to notice. He was able to walk though fine. Today, its like my dog doesn't even use his leg when he walks up or down stairs. When he walks normally, its like his back paw is circled barely enough so he doesn't have to bend it. What might be wrong?

Hind sight says you should have taken your pup to the vet when it first happened. Five minutes is a long to time to cry and obviously he was not fine.

But today is today, and better late than never. Take your dog to the vet and have his foot x-rayed. It may be your brother accidentally broke a bone and your vet will have to re-break it so it heals correctly. I don't know. Make an appointment and see what they say.

Did you take the dog to the vets when the injury first happened? If not, I suggest you do so now. But there is a chance he is suffering from damage which can't be repaired because it was left so long.

  • WHat did your vet say 2 years ago when he was first injured??

If you have left an injury for 2 years, there is probably little you can do now, but get your vet to check it anyway as it may not be related.

this is something that avet will have to x-ray for- he might have had a broken leg that did not heal correctly and might have arthritis now- young puppies are really good at not showing pain or problems. it also could be something unrelated that happened to his leg being that it is weak from puupyhood- a vet should be called

So your dog was injured when he was a puppy and you NEVER got him medical attention?

That's neglect, and punishable by law.

What might be wrong? You're all incredibly thick and lack any kind of moral fiber, and should surrender your dog immediately so that he can receive the veterinary care he desperately needs.

  • The vet will be able to help you with this.

Nobody can diagnose your dog over the internet.

It may have twisted the wrong way and stayed that way. it could have broken and then healed the wrong way.
