Chevy Colorado getting hot?

My 2006 Chevy Colorado seems to be getting really hot lately. Yes I know that where I live the temp has been over 100 the last couple of weeks. However, the temp is damn near hittting 3/4 the way up the temp gague and the cooling system can't seem to keep up at all. What do you think could be causing this. It can run for about 30 minutes where it should and then goes up the temp gauge.

It may just be the gauge, but mostly likely its not. I would check all the fluid levels (Just check all, to make sure oil and all that crap is fine. But check Thermostat, fluds, and all that type of stuff that helps to keep the motor "warm". But if it does not get fixed, I would take it a Auto repair shop.

**DO NOT take it to the dealer, they will charge you way to much**

    smallblockford1000,

I would recommend taking the vehicle into your local dealership to be diagnosed. They should be able to assist you further and have a plan for addressing the issue. If you have further questions, feel free to contact me by email. Thank you.

The guage may be reading normal for all we know.

    Check coolant level.

Make sure your thermostat is working.

Check strength of coolant with a $5 tester.
