Who do you think will win the election on Saturday?

This is a question designed to have you think. We already know the political leanings of most our regulars here, so am not interested in who you are going to vote for and why. I'm asking who do you think will actually win, your political opinions and desires aside in this instance. You can break it down to seats if you want to.

I say Labor will win, but only just. They'll lose Queensland, some of Western Sydney but not much being traditional working class areas, and will probably win from the Victorian marginals.

Update:

@Bingalee: Just want to clarify something with you, you state that the electorate won't make the same mistake twice. Look at NSW then say that hehe.

Update 3:

@ Aussie: don't forget Sir Joh had Flo and her pumpkin scones.

I think Labor with a slight majority. They'll pick up a bit at the end of the campaign.

A couple of weeks ago, I would have said the Coalition with a solid but not huge majority but I now think Labor just might be able to pull it out of the fire and win by a very small margin but it could still go either way. It will all come down to the marginal seats and there are so many of them for this election that I doubt if we'll get a definite answer on Saturday.

I think Liberals will have it.

Julia will lose Western Australia, South Australia and just enough seats in New South Wales to tip the balance. Sunshine states are dead against the mining taxes. Queensland has also had their nose put out from having Rudd (a Queenslander) unceremoniously given the proverbial knife in the back. New South Wales is totally over having ineffective Labor governments in power at both state and federal levels. Pensioners are going to be very concerned on two levels. Labors mining taxes will directly affect their income from mining investments and shares. They will be quite concerned about how they can pay the bills with the pittance of a pension they get now. With an aging population this is the sleeper issue of the election. Voters don't want political spin they want real leadership. Julia will have the usual labor seat suspects on her side in South Australia, Victoria and Tasmania. In the final count though I don't think she is going to have the numbers she wants. I think the voters are not going to buy into the change of Labour leader spin (Julia was right in the thick of Rudds decisions) but look at what policies affect them individually. It will come down to who is going to keep them in a job and have a roof over their head.

I think it will be a very close one this time around.

A lot will depend on the swinging voters and what they see, hear and read in the media this coming week.

I think maybe Labor by a whisker but I wouldn't want to bet the farm on the outcome either way.

Edit: Aussie seems to forget the massive gerrymander in Qld which Joh engineered in his favour. It made it very difficult for the Nats to lose no matter how disenchanted the electors were with Joh and his cronies.

Ugh, I really don't know. I'm hoping that common sense will prevail and people will wake up and see just how much Labor has screwed us up and vote Liberals. But you never know, we have quite a large amount of bogans in Australia, who'd vote Labor because ''Oooh, it's a woman!" or ''They had a good ad'' or just vote Labor because they think that Labor is, well... good. BAHAHAHA. I know, right? Idiots.

EDIT: 3 thumbs downs! Finally, I feel like I'm doing something right. Aussie's been getting an average 12 thumbs down per answer. I was starting to feel left out.

    I feel good now. :)

I can remember the days of Sir Johannes Bjelke Petersen up here & how people would scoff at him , his speech , his use of language & I've said before that Abbott reminds me a lot of Sir Joh.

People used to write him off as well & on many occasions the pollsters misjudged the mood of the people ...I believe they have misjudged it again & that Abbott has sold himself as an honest , believable politician ...has admitted he has made mistakes , has got some things wrong in the past & won a lot of doubting voters over just by being himself & not doing what his opponent is trying to do ...repackage herself & be what she isn't !

Another week & we may know for sure but I am not going to be so confident as to say what I want to happen , will happen ....that's for all the voters of Australia to determine !

I can see Labor winning. Although I don't care which side wins it.

Frankly I think you are wrong.I can't see electors making the same mistake twice.Labor had every chance to win over voters but failed miserably.Gillard has shown that she's not to be trusted and that she handles the truth carelessly.I don't like the way she plans to treat pensioners & I don't like the way she ignores experts & the general public.

Edit: 'touché ' Arokh, I had overlooked that fact, lol.

I have thought about it carefully and I say the electorate won't be dumb enough to return Labor. They have been nothing short of a disaster and to elect Gillard would be a national disgrace.

One thing is for sure - not the Australian public.
