2. Anyone who sets off car bombs and flies planes into buildings in an attempt to impose some extreme form of sharia law on the world is a terrorist and a Muslim, but definitely not a freedom fighter.

The actions of the United States necessarily affects virtually every country on earth, and the middle east isn't the only region of the world in which the United States has interfered politically...U.S. interference may inflame things a bit in the middle east, but Muslim extremism still has everything to do with the creation of terrorism and terrorists.

Did it ever occur to you that the Middle East was pretty much a worthless desert expanse until about 100 years ago when new sources of oil became so important? Where are these "centuries" of interference? Typical Libby hyperbole.

Secondly, the West has tried its best to civilize the Muslim nations. Countries like India, which had the good fortune to be under English rule for so long, now have a chance to become First World nations. African countries, where colonialism didn't last as long regrettably have "reverted into a type of tribal barbarism", as cited former U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan. Suffice it to say, the Middle Eastern countries have benefited immensely from their interaction with the West. Prior to this, they were poor, primitive, completely undeveloped, (read: they were stinking, dirty hell holes) and would have stayed that way. Period. No Libby revisionism, sorry.

What makes Muslim "freedom fighters" terrorists? Well sunshine, in the case of Iraq, they are fighting the LEGITIMATELY ELECTED government the people voted for! That by definition makes them not only terrorists but traitors as well.

First of all, your defenses of very primitive and backwards civilizations is lifted right out of revisionist history. You talk about Africa and India having "civilization". Oh yeah, nice in a santized Disney movie, but the reality is that these places were generally dismally poor, undeveloped places. I laugh when I hear people like you regurgitate nonsense about how "advanced" these places were in terms of education, or how tolerant they were. This is just absurd. Having a few decent mathematicians in the population does not constitute a healthy, vibrant civilization.

Practically everything that you enjoy is a product of Western Civilization, and in particular, American ingenuity. If Muslim countries wanted to declare war on the US because of their grievances, it would be a legitimate fight. When groups formed to fight and spread their ideology blow up civilians to make a political statement, they are terrorists.
