BUT MY SUGGESTION IS FOR THE PEOPLE WHO LACK ENGLISH LANGUAGE SKILLS.
PEOPLE WHO KNOW ONLY SPANISH ARE POSTING QUESTIONS IN THAT LANGUAGE.
PEOPLE WHO KNOW ENGLISH AND SPANISH ARE POSTING IN BOTH LANGUAGES.

Good question. i chose this question to answer. i will try my level best to answer this question. i will be happy if it gives you satisfaction. Now we will go to the answer.
your question is this: why yahoo is not allowing to post questions in hindi, tamil, and telugu languages, spoken by millions of people ?
my answer:
Leave yahoo, first regional ministers are not able to speak in tamil or other regional languages in our Lok sabha or in Rajya sabha by which a cabinet minister is dragged into several controversies because he did not know hindi or english. we need a translator for this purpose. so, our business is laughed here itself.
First thing you need to do is WHAT Classified as a LANGUAGE! i am a tamil, but i am unable to talk a pure tamil like srilankan tamil. The madurai and tirunelveli tamils are pure whereas the madras tamil language is more awkward. Taking telugu, the pure telugu goes interior Andhra whereas in other parts the telugu is not pure.
we fight ourselves over classical languages. In india Jawaharlal Nehru assured all people to continue english as link language. Hence the english is the known language all over india. All people in india know english, can understand, can write.
please read the list of language families http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_language_fami... and in
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_language_fami...
i am also interested to see my language tamil in yahoo, but we should see the possibilities. The english is a world language. our questions or answers goes around the world. If i ask a question in tamil or answer a question in tamil, how many will respond ? i guess, maximum 300 to 400 tamil members only in yahoo. i exaggerated the figure.
similarly, there will be less than 300 members in all regional languages. If local language comes to force there may be additional members, no doubt, but tamil will answer to tamil, telugu answer to telugu, and other language people will answer to their own language. How my tamil question will be answered by oriya member ?
your question is out of enthusiasm and love over the languages particularly indian languages, but it is impossible to control because there are languages in the world like stars in the sky. As many as the stars in the sky.
Truth be told, there's no accurate way to measure how many languages there are. There's no way to tell the difference between a dialect and an actual language, and even more languages are created by the handful (that includes many forms of sign languages and computer languages).
There are National language, international language, regional language besides local language spoke by the tribes, tribes. Here we see ''narikoravars''. They talk different languages. They too now educated and they may also be given opportunity in yahoo.
There are a total of 23 european languages, 37 regional languages in india, three in china, one in japan, several unique to south america as well as hundreds in africa. then keep in mind cross cutting cleavage as imperialism took their languages with them!...i would say it is impossible to count.
D. S. Parlett's A Short Dictionary of Languages (1967) estimated the number of languages in the world at about 3000, rising to as many as 5000 if certain dialects were considered languages. As for what consitutes an actual language as distinguished from a dialect, there's a saying of unknown origin "A language is a dialect with an army and navy": the difference is often more political than linguistic. At any given time, some languages are in danger of extinction (defined as no longer anyone's mother tongue) and others are developing, usually as a result of isolation from other speakers. This will create more politics.
Totally, your question dividing india from ''one india'' in respect of yahoo answers.
@Edit: you please understand what i tell in my answers. i am also interested in regional languages and i am happy too. i also welcome it. i am saying about the practical difficulties to enforce a matter. we are not only divided by languages but also divided in following certain principles. The English is the only link language here. when i came to yahoo, many critisized me and advised me to learn english first. http://in.answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Ai... giving answers one by one, i learned to manage only and i agree i'm not thorough in english. English knowing Bapus are spread all over india, and in fact than their mother-tongue. it is a fact.
Thanks for the opportunity !!!

It is a valid point and to be unanimously accepted without discussion or dissension.
A controversy will always loom over any beneficial and reasonable issue
.It is a healthy sign for the your long awaited proposal to materialize and take off.
I whole heartedly second your suggestion.
A Tamil related question in English doesn't have that efficacy that Tamil could have generated and
pitiably it doesn't attract other members who don't know Tamil.
There may be some other practical problem like moderators can monitor only in some selected languages.
In that case they should include our Indian languages which will enroll more Indian members, millions of them,in Yahoo.
Will YAHOO ANSWERS INDIA become INDIANS' YAHOO ANSWERS?

Because they are discriminatory They have language groups whose countries are much smaller than India They should set up an Indian site which would allow Q/A's in Hindi Tamil, and Telugu.
I suspect the reason for not having an Indian site is perhaps, because they don't feel they could make enough money, which sounds ridiculous to me.
The issue could be presented to Yahoo Answers Management as well as being raised on the members blog site
Hope this helps

I have read all the above answers and after knowing the concerns of all, I think there is no need to make a separate Y!A India site for different languages but they should allow users to write in all Indian languages in this forum. Currently writing a question in any language other than English is a violation. They should remove this from their violation lists.
I think this may work a little bit.

Agree with you Geyamala Jee,
Because a Big part of Indian Populations don't know English.
But they have good knowledge which they can share with people and express their feeling. But sometime I think English is one language which is understandable lots of People around the worlds.

Very true ...yahoo India should give option to ask question in regional languages also .
It will give opportunity to those people who are not good in english and need solution to their problems.
Many people said that english is common language which we agree but there are many things which only regional people knows and if it will not come out then how other people will come to know .
When people who knows english will learn it from them they can post it in english language .
In this way we can have advantage of both languages .
Ashish suggestion is also good.

My view goes with Haritha ji. We don't have just one language in India, we have several languages that is why for the benefit of users, a common language should be used that can be understood by all, and that can be only English. Allowing Indian languages will only encourage group-ism, and prevent users from participation. A Hindi answer and question will be understood by only Hindi speaking and writing person, Tamil question answer will be understood by only Tamil speaking person and so on. And on top of that, not everyone has regional language software and skills to type. Its most convenient and useful to use English as medium of communication for us the Indians on YA India.
Edit: Sorry geymala madam, its not few babus who know English on Internet, its majority of Indian Internet users know English, on the other hand, if regional languages and national languages are allowed, it is really a bunch of users who know that language. How many of us know Tamil? How many of us know Telugu? How many of us know Malayalam? How many of know Bengali? How many of us know Marathi? How many of us know Hindi? Why would I want to prevent majority of user to prevent the usefulness of the forum that is open to all? Is is very limited percent of the users who don't understand English and use Internet.

Yes very good question!
Yahoo has to admit that the number of users of YA could be more from Indians as the Indian population is considerably more than any of the countries like Germany, Egypt etc where they are allowed to post and receive answers in their language.
Only Indians are neglected. In fact the advertisement income Yahoo may be relying on will be more by allowing Yahoo India to post questions and answers in Regional languages of India as number of users will increase.
There will be another disadvantage, responses will be less by answerers as if it is in English, all from all parts of India are participating.
We have to write to Yahoo. Every individual shall separately post their request to persuade Yahoo!
EDIT:
Let us see how many Indians are interested by starring this question!
Edit:
I fully agree with Ashish! Yes few of my Answers and Questions with translation in English was deleted by violation. At least if Yahoo is permitting posting in any Indian language it will be great.

Well!!!!!!!
It is because Y!A thinks that all that is posted in English are valid sources of knowledge....
Many answers posted in other languages, with valid translation underneath, are being deleted.
I had expressed my dissatisfaction to the Yahoo Customer Care itself when they approached me for Customer Satisfaction Survey...
But, I do not see any improvement suggested!!!

I think the soft wares should support different languages it's a very big point to become more popular in india it should be definitely considered.

Though it is very convenient to ask and answer in one's mother or regional language it can not reach world wide other peoples. See I am able to respond you hence only it is in common language. Now our Q & y/a are seen and answered from other continent also.
