Cancelling a mobile phone contract?

My idiot older sister agreed to have a mobile phone contract in her name for a neighbour she has practically just met. Is there a cancellation period on the contract?

Depends where it was from and how long ago it was. SOME places have a 7day cooling off period so you can cancel within that time.

Check the small print of the contract to see if you can cancel. If not you are stuck with the minimum term, however depending on the network you will be able to downgrade the tariff to help with costs..

No, Once you sign up for a contract, you have to have the contract for a minimum of the amount of months the contract says 18 or 24 is the normal rate.

Normally, if you cancel a contract early you still have to pay for the duration of it or they substitute it with some sort of hefty charge. If you agree to a contract they can hold you to it, unless they've stipulated a get out clause but I doubt it.
