Should a Mosque be built in New York City? Of course. If they need another mosque, they can have it. The Muslims have every right to build a community center/place of worship in the city they live. No one finds anything wrong with that. What is wrong, in my opinion, is building a mosque two blocks from the place they completely destroyed nine years ago. There is no reason that the mosque should face the graveyard of the 3,000 people they killed. They can build it somewhere else.
It is solely insensitive. I honestly am confused as to why this is even a controversy.

It should be built elsewhere.
Building it there makes Islam look bad. As a graveyard, Ground Zero should be treated with reverence. A mosque there will look like a monument to terrorism. It will be a magnet for Islamist supporters of terrorism, and Islamophobes alike. Imagine what that will be like! It will not be able to carry out any peaceful kind of worship.
