Bobby Thompson the man who hit the famous shot heard round the world in 1951 vs the Dodgers has died. ->?

Your thoughts?

Baseball loses another famous player. Bobby Thompson hit one of the most famous Homeruns to help his NY Giants(Before moving to San Fransisco) beat the Brooklyn(LA) Dodgers in a 3 game Playoff in 1951. R.I.P

Update:

I meant Thomson. Sorry for the typo error.

the man who hit his way in baseball immortality has exited the stage - but left us with one of the greatest moments in baseball, and sports history.

"The Giants win the pennant! The Giants win the pennant!, The Giants win the pennant!"

RIP Bobby Thomson - you will be missed!

That highlighted a great end to one of the best pennant races there ever was. On August 11, they were 13 games back, went on a 16-game winning streak and tied the Brooklyn Dodgers for first on the last day of the season (9/30/51).

That must have been great to be a New York Giants fan that year.

The third and deciding game of the National League playoff series between two long time New York City rivals...and the Polo Grounds was not even close to sold out. Yes, it was a famous home run. Yes, people from Brooklyn still feel the pain, but there have been many other shots heard around the world since, and they happened in front of sellout crowds on color tv. Mazeroski's walk off in game 7 of the 1960 series. Carter's walk off in game 6 of the 1993 series, Carlton Fisk's home run in game 6 of the 1975 series. Even, Heaven forgive me, Aaron F. Boone's home run in the 12th inning of game 7 of the 2003 ALCS.

Rest in peace Bobby, the shot heard around the world will never be forgotten. What a great moment in history for us.

Thanks for the update, I didn't get to the news tonight.

One if not the most famous home run in history.

Just a quick bit of history, the on deck hitter was Willie Mays.
