Do bears pee and poo while hibernating?
Do they store it up all winter or, since their metabolism is slowed down, does it slowly trickle out?

Not all bears hibernate. Those that do, such as the black bear and the brown (grizzly) bear, do it without waking up to urinate or defecate. Other animals that hibernate (e.g. rodents), however, must wake up every few days to urinate or they will die. The bears are able to recycle their urine, which is an amazing trick. It is true that bears do not lower their body temperatures when hibernating, but they do lower their heart rates to about 10 beats per minute, compared to a heart rate of 45-50 per minute when not hibernating. Because of their large body and good insulation (fur and body fat built up during summer and fall), they don't lose heat to their environment much, so they are able to stay warm without burning up too much energy (this is evidenced from their reduced heart rate because otherwise their hearts must work faster to distribute heat and energy within the body).

well, bears don't exactly hibernate, they just get really slow about all there functions and bide time for the winter.. they come out now and then, for what ever reason, but go rite back to there cubbie hole because they don't want there systems to get taxed and feel hungry for weeks.
I found black past around dens before, bowel material i'm sure, but it wasn't like real shyt, it was just goo.
i never seen any urine..tho.
the sow will wake up giving birth, scientists say, but she doesn't get very excited about it apparently. The cubs of black bear only weigh about as much as a stick of butter at birth, so it probably isn't much of a chore for them.
a mature boar will sleep fitfully, exit his den more frequently, even do short forage if the weather is congenial, but even they will not remain awake if winter seems far from over when they are out in it.
i spent a couple days in a bears cave waiting for a storm to break once.. it tolerated me, my fire, and all my ruckus for 2 nights and never bothered me even tho it knew i was there.. i didn't bother it ether, other than smoking the entrance up with my fire.

Most importantly, bears do not hibernate; they are too large to lower their body temperature enough. They go into a state of "torpor," which is just a big sleep. The periodically wake enough to "pee" and "poo" outside their dens. The females also wake up enough to give birth...

Little or none at all except for the first few days of hibernation. No inflow, no outflow.
