Correct again Jac. Newburgh is the Norman name for Newbury. The Ebor was ran at Newbury, as you correctly stated, because York was waterlogged in 2008.
Its 12.22 and just waiting for Sam g, Sir Alan and for Salamander to edit his selections in.
I have to go out this afternoon with my two toddlers so won't be doing race by race winners until later this pm.
Final Day question has been posted.
Its 1pm Comp Closed......Sir Alan last to post
Much Thanks to salamander for doing the commentary this afternoon. I could not have put it better myself.

No winners today but the answer to your question is Die Hard the 1961 York Ebor winner.(if this was trivial pursuit I would be at the top of he leaderboard lolx do I get a bonus point for answering both questions) keep 'em coming.......... anyway back to the drawing board and hoping for some winners tomorrrow. Well done Steve R for beating my horse by a nifty head x..Would have had a nice double up if he had won as I backed Puddleduck at 8-1 in the race before just because I was taking my daughter to the station this morning and there was a car in front of me with 'Puddleducks Childrens Nursery' written on it (had to do it so didn't lose all today)... Still a long way to go, here are my 3 hopefuls:- 1.45 ..... ANHAR 2.15 ..... AKMAL ((nap)) 2.50 ..... TEMPLE MEADS 3.25 ..... MARTYR 4.05 ..... CHOOSE WISELY 4.40 ..... ADMIRE THE VIEW Good luck all and well done to all with winners today...Jac x

I know i had 3 winners (backed the first 2) but i've got to have one grump or i will not be content, what was that Seb Sanders doing on that Fortuni everthing thing that has won this week has come up the side where everything in the race today went so why did that plonker go up the other side (must of had a brain freeze).I think the more i complain the more winners i back so that's my grump for today back to backing winners fingers crossed.

2.50 CAPPONI

Hi Mr. Bookie...just got home to find I had scored a big fat '()' today....so need to study very hard for my favourite day of the meeting featuring the Yorkshire Oaks....back later with some choices...well done to anyone who had winners today it wasn't easy..Jac x
PS...nearly forgot to answer your question...
I do know that in 2008 the course at York was waterlogged because they ran the Juddmonte at Newmarket and I got to see Duke of Marmalade romp home, think the Ebor was run at Newbury so presume Newburgh has some historical link to the town of Newbury an old name for the town perhaps..interesting questions at least I'm learning something while my horses go down..lolx
Edit: 3 more hopefuls for tomorrow running in the desperate stakes:-
1.45 ..... CAPE TO RIO (I agree Mick HTGR Hannons best)
2.15 ..... RIMTH
2.50 ..... PROPONENT ((Nap))
3.25 ..... SNOW FAIRY
4.05 ..... ELDALIL
4.40 ..... KINGSGATE CHOICE
Good Luck to all tomorrow and well done Robert great tipping..Jac x
