How Do I Replace Muffler Strap On 01 Cavalier?
Ok I have a broken muffler strap on my car and there is one bolt at bottom and the strap wraps around the muffler with a pointed piece that goes through a rubber piece. Do I try and push it out? One of my friends said he had to cut it off, the piece that goes through the rubber part. But the new one has to go on and be put through the rubber piece, so anybody have any experience with this. Thanks in advance. I live in the middle of nowhere so if I break down with a muffler hanging nobody is going to help except the guy with the cigar in his mouth who just happens to own a tow truck. LOL

Mike the muffler strap breaking is one of the most common problems with the cavalier.When this strap brakes only the strap needs replaced.Most all auto parts stores carry this part and its under $10 dollars.Pull the top of the strap assy through the muffler hanger.When you get the new strap you will see how easy it is to replace.The new strap goes through the muffler hanger and the strap goes around the muffler the bolt clamps both sides together.Be carefull with the bolt they can cross thread (strip) really easy.Best of luck.
