If the system was not evacuated to remove all the air in the system is a problem, air will compress but wont condense and turn to liquid like the freon. any air in the system will hurt the performance. It also could be your 'expansion" valve is plugged. You will have to check with the dealer or a good A/C shop to find where the expansion valve is located in your system. But if you didn't evacuate the system i would try this first, you will have to dump the charge to then place the system into a deep vacuum.

edit ... If you have a real set of freon gauges on the vehicle you will know if the expansion valve is plugged because you will be running higher than normal head pressures and real low suction pressures. With out a good Gauge manifold which reads the hi and low side pressures the system is almost impossible to diagnose

computerized air con is the place the vehicle keeps the temp at what ever you placed it to as antagonistic to steer air con the place you frequently could save adjusting it to get a ideal temp.

Check the orifice. It may be clogged with stuff from the original dryer.
