How to take care of a baby squirrel?
Just a few minutes ago a baby squirrel fell out of our tree and it's really really really young. The mom came back so I took it outside but she ran and I set it there but she won't come back and there are a lot of stray cats around so if the mom doesn't come how do I take care of it????
he is about 4 weeks and his eyes aren't even open, he doesn't have any fur on his tail or anything like that he is just a tiny velvety baby squirrel, please help!!!!
we already called a vet and vets are actually prohibited from taking care of baby squirrels and deer here, they aren't aloud so it wont do no good, adn the only nature like center we have around us is shut down now
also we just put it in a basket nailed to a tree and hope the mommy will come back but she has and has past it up 4 times then left and wont even try to get it!!!!!!

the best thing you can do it leave it out there and keep an eye on it from afar. This early in it's development it's chance of survival is probably under 10% without it's mother. The mother may have intentionally abandoned it due to some defect or illness, so it's survival may already be grim
Try putting it in a basket attached to the tree the mother was last seen in, that way its not as easy of a target for predators, though you still need to keep an eye on it.
If she doesnt take it back after an hour or so, you can try to keep it alive but don't get your hopes up. You'll need a heat pad attached to a thermostat or dimmer switch set to very very low, STERILE food syringes, soft bedding, and formula. The Link below has the proper formula and feeding instructions. note that you MUST stimulate the baby to evacuate their bowels after every meal, or they will die.
Good Luck, you're really going to need it.

If you buy cat milk formula and get a syringe you can feed the cat milk formula from the syringe. To them it taste like it's their mommy's milk . If you also keep it warm and safe away from other animals it has 50% chance of living.
Keep it warm esecially at night. Put blankets all in a plastic bowl(with no lid). now it will have a 75% chance of living

Hey :]
I don't know how, but I found this amazing site, and I think it'll work fantastic for you. I hate when people give me link answers, but it's a good idea to look at it!

My only other thoughts are to take it to an exotic vet. Best of luck!
