When do baby squirrels open their eyes?
We now have a 4 week old squirrel and his eyes are still closed. Here are some pics, the top one actually is him but the second one is a squirrel that looks just like him. Here:
We got him just yesterday, he fell out of a tree and into my sisters lap and his mom wont take him so we are taking care of him now.
And there are lots of people that have pet squirrel around here

I had a baby squirrel several years ago..He was 6-8 weeks before he opened his and it was pure wonderful hell after that. You know how parents can't wait for their child to walk and talk. Then when they do you wished they;d sit still and shut up for just one minute more.Well squirrels are very fast, they steal things that are shiny, make nests out of your underwear and love to climb.Thank God they just don't talk.

http://www.squirreltales.org/ This second link gives info on telling how old a baby squirrel is.
Just curious about how long you've had this squirrel (you can give an age for it but don't know when the eyes will open? how come?) And as both these sites state, the best chance for a baby squirrel is with a wildlife rehabilitator. It's also illegal to keep a squirrel as a pet. The problem is, if you get caught ( and someone may very well report you), the game commission will confiscate it and destroy it. Providing an adult squirrel with sufficient cage space is not practical for most folks. And squirrels, like most wild animals, get a whole lot wilder after they hit puberty, and may become very aggressive. Vets usually don't have much knowledge of pet care much outside of cats and dogs and may refuse to treat it. This baby, sadly, isn't "pet" material for you.
