Hear about it ??? LOL, I experienced it for years !!

OK, here's the story. Major league retail store (actually is was a major league grocery store). Anyways, we had massive business. Well, the store got bought out Kroger under the QFC banner. At first it was totally cool: for a VERY busy store, we had six to eight employees working the floor in our department (deli). By the time it was over for me, management had whittled that hugely busy department down to TWO employees per shift - but it still was as busy as ever. I seriously was like saying to a small field of customers "I have NO idea who's next". Seriously. So what did that next customer say to me? "I've been waiting for 20 minutes and I need to order EIGHT sandwiches". (Not burgers - deli sandwiches). LOL. There was like five to seven layers of management in that store - compared to just a few actual workers. In a way, I hope that store has failed - but I'm sure it hasn't. (Last I heard, they were hiring semi-illegal aliens from Mexico for basically minimum wage). I AM ENTIRELY sure that I can make a better deli sandwich than an immigrant who can hardly understand English. But hey, it's their business and they can hire whomever they want. It's all about the bottom line - who cares about quality or friendliness anymore?

I liked my job (before the Kroger takeover, that is. I had worked there for a decade). But it was time to walk when I saw all these 'corporate' stuffed-shirts getting high-dollar to have 'meetings' and go out to lunch while I tryed to slave away the best I could.

It was ridiculous - and I walked. With my experience, I have never had a problem finding another job in the grocery industry - naturally, I don't apply at Krogers LOL. Good riddance to bad rubbish.
