CDMA phone questions?
I have always used At&t/Cingular so i have no experience with wireless providers that use CDMA.
If I were to get a Droid 2, could I use it with any CDMA wireless provider or only with Verizon.
I want the R2d2 droid phone when it comes out is why I ask.
Thanks.

You can probably have it flashed to a regional carrier (Metro, Cricket, etc.) but you most likely will not have data service
Source(s): I know a lot about Verizon- hope it helps- msg me w/ questions :) - 1 decade ago
You could only use it on Verizon. While you can unlock CDMA phones, the problem you will run into is that another CDMA network will not activate it for you. So while theoretically you could unlock a phone and use it on another network, it's up to the network whether they would allow you to do so, because it's in their best interest to sell you one of their phones. It's not like with GSM where you can pop a SIM card into any unlocked phone you want and have it work.

You can use it with other carriers too. I dont know where are you from but in states we have metro pcs who are flashing any phone to their network.
