Question about brake pads on my truck?
My friend just helped me put new brake pads on my truck and everything went smooth but now when I press on the brakes they make a squeaking noise and I can smell a weird smell. Is that normal or is something the matter and how do I fix it if there is something matter.

Did you turn or replace the rotors? that is the #1 cause of brake squeel. then did you clean everything off? or did you leave greasy hand prints allover everything? then did you test drive and burnish. Did you buy the $15 cheapo pads or did you get good pads with shims beveled edges etc... Did you reinstall any anti rattle clips , grease slides, clean surface where pads contact caliper bracket? ANY IDIOT can slap pads on a vehicle and say they're a mechanic. Doing them correctly takes much more knowledge and skill. smelling brakes first day or 2 after new pads installed is perfectly normal.
I probably see atleast 5 brake jobs done a day, and some mechanics dnt even do it right either cuz they're rushing through it.

Use a C-clamp or some thing comparable to push the piston back in. (warning--in the journey that your truck is equiped with ABS brakes, open the bleeder till now pushing the piston in, in any different case injury to the ABS accumalator must be the consequence) installation the recent pads and all of the clips, springs or any component else which you had to do away with. installation the calipers, wheel/tire assy, and your sturdy to bypass. in the journey that your truck has servicable wheel bearings, you ought to re-p.c.. them with clean grease, additionally the rotors must be machined to grant you optimal brake overall performance.
