Do u agree with ADB's report that only 0.0009% Indians earn more than Rs. 10,534 per month ?

The Asian Development Bank

is a regional development

bank established in 1966 to

promote economic and social

development in Asian and Pacific

countries through loans and

technical assistance. It is a

multilateral development financial

institution owned by 67 members (countries)

If the recent report of Asian Development Bank is to be believed then

74.95% people in India earn Rs. 1,035 per month

20.45% earn between Rs. 1035-2070

4.15% people earn between Rs. 2070 - 5177

0.45% people farm between Rs. 5177 - 10,354

0.0009% people earn more than Rs. 10,354

You may have heard the old quote about the three types of lies viz. lies, damned lies and statistics.

And figures dished out by pollsters, governments, banks etc. need to be taken with not merely a pinch of salt but maybe even a cartload of it.Just to explode the myth of the ADB's figures, one single example will suffice.Any beggar in the street earns at least Rs.200 per day.A rag-picker makes nothing less than about Rs.500 daily.Of course the figures furnished by the ADB takes into account the average which is worked out by taking into account the poor villagers/marginal farmers

etc.But then these people are also being assisted by the government under its various schemes. So unless one knows the basis on which the ADB has computed the figures and the sampling methods adopted, all such data may not reflect the facts.More so when one has to contend with a country like India whose population is in excess of one billion.Figures/facts furnished by such agencies and reported by dailies are eyewash.Go to any shanty in any slum and you will see the luxury items greeting one when the make-shift door or whatever is opened.

    Have a Great Day.

Look my guess is that the report is partially correct.

I mean face it about 70-75% of the population is still under poverty.

But also look into the fact that many of the earners in our economy that dont constitute the service class may not be registered.

People do lots of work online and other freelance stuff and u cant estimate their income.

And if it included the whole population like, wives child and senior citizens then it may be right........because in india generally a family is dependant on one earner.

ADB report is believable and based on data available to them. Income is on average basis -mean person earning 1billion and zero earning people included . As you are aware people living below poverty line is 70%. Report year not mention .

Umm... Even a clerk working in central government office get Rs.15,000. How can they say that a very little fraction of the population get more than 10K?

i believe the adb report and its figures ---------------more than Indian government reports

they are both very rich ------super rich ----the poor ---the middle class in India

in big cities like mumbai ,Bangalore ,and Delhi, hyderabad Chennai ,,,,,,etc etc the situation is good-----there are people earning lots of money-----there are poor as well

its only in the villages and hinter lands which are very far of from cities -----------which are suffering from poverty

its my favorite hobby --------------to walk in slums of cities and poverty prone areas in both big cities as well as villages as well as general compartment of trains---------i got to see first hand how the poor people are suffering -----and how they live -----etc etc

i am sorry to say -------------most poor people have a very cocky attitudes------------------many are arrogant-----------and they don't like change ---------------they keep blaming the governments all the time----------

men spending all their money on liquor--------------unwillingness to learn or accumulate knowledge by hearing or seeing---------------wives beating their drunkard hubbies with brooms----------------curses and fights in the slums reach an all time high during Sunday's-------------when male laborer's are present in houses due to Sunday holiday

fights between neighbor's -on Sunday's-------------males fight with their neighbor's---------and their wives also start fighting with each other in support of their respective husbands----------throwing bottles and pulling each others hair

the streets dogs are more in slums ---------------they keep howling when fights start in the streets----------

still there are many many things which i can go on and on on the poverty in certain areas of India like slums and remote villages-----------------------what ever i have said is not any government report or IMF or adb report

its mukunds report ------------who has seen all these things with his own eyes

still now i walk in the poorer areas and slums ----------trying to gauge --------------what really is the cause behind the poor people poverty and their behavior's and attitudes etc etc

only the best free education will solve their problem by changing their mindsets --------------government schools cannot do that -----------i have seen it ------------90% of the government schools are useless

    good luck
