What kind of tinted sunglasses are best for driving at night?
Is there a color that's good for driving at night that will reduce glare and improve your vision? I'm thinking amber, but I'm not too sure.

Richard is wrong on both counts.
First , clear polarized lenses don't exist. A polarized lens must have color.
Second, amber is for daytime driving. It is ideal in snow or fog. Amber is too dark for use at night.
For night driving the only acceptable color is canary yellow, with an anti reflection coating. That really improves night vision and eliminates glare from oncoming cars and street lights.

Sunglasses of any kind should never be worn at night, not only is it dangerous but it is illegal! Polarised sunglasses are brilliant at removing the glare from the sun, particularly reflected sun, like off other peoples windscreens or a wet road surface. Have you had an eye test since your cataract operation? The surgery often leaves people with astigmatism which, if uncorrected can cause a star effect around lights when driving at night. You may just need new clear driving glasses and anti-reflection coating is very good- if it's been sold to you a anti-glare then it has been mis-sold.

Amber would be best however you may just need clear polarized lenses. That will cut glare without dimming the illumination. Consider that first and speak to an optometrist or ophthalmologist first.
You may also check with your local driver testing sites and see if there may be any restrictions about sunglasses while driving at night. You just never know!
