You need a HD receiver either a box or some Panisonics have built-in Freesat. If you go Sky you pay extra and get all options going. With a Freesat box you get BBC and some areas ITV HD but not the Sky options all for the price of the box. Note, with Freesat you also need a dish, this can be the same as the Sky dish as it looks at the same satallite.

Source(s): Looked at options and now have a box.

If you want to watch HD programmes, you must have one of the following:

    Satellite HD.

    Cable HD.

    Freesat.

    BT Vision.

    A separate HD Freeview box.

At the moment, none of the TV programmes you are watching are in HD, because you don't have an HD source.

Full HD is NOT the same as built-in HD Freeview.

If it's full HD it should receive transmissions as it is. If it's HD ready you need a reciever.
