Work for (3x+2)(x-6)=0? Answer is 6 or -2/3?

    (3x+2)(x-6)=0

    Solve for x1

    3x+2 = 0

    3x = -2

    x = -2/3

    Solve for x2

    x-6=0

    x=6

    Therfore the x is both 6 and -2/3

    You are using the zero property of the reals, that is if ab=0 then either a=0 or b=0

    Hence either 3x+2=0 or x-6=0. So x=-2/3 or x=6
