Parking Brake light stays on?

I have a 1996 Ford taurus LX and the parking brake light is always on, except when i brake fairly hard. How can i fix this?

    The parking brake light is multifunctional.

    If it stays on it means 1 or more of the following:

    low brake fluid level

    worn brake pads

    failed brake circuit

    broken switch

    you have left your parking brake on

    you have a switch activated by the parking brake when you put on the parking brake it activates the switch but if there is a loose connection or faulty switch that is the problem

    check master cyl fluid level
