Should I be nervous about starting?
I starting wide receiver and corner back this year. Should I be nervous? I'm not an expert at football but I do know the basics and since I'm the only JV receiver, I have to start. Got any tips? Also, if I get put in a varsity game because of injury, should I be terrified because those guys are huge?

DO not be nervous. Think of it as playing pickup with friends. Or think of it as practice, you're not nervous then are you? I played both receiver and corner on my JV team last year, and I was so nervous for like the first 2 games, then I started having fun with it. You're always on the field so you stop thinking about nerves and focus more on the game. I had 3 interceptions in the last 7 games last year as a result of that transition. It's all about wanting to play. If you feel as though you're only playing because you have to, you'll be nervous. If you want to play and think of it as just having fun, you'll be fine.

You will be nervous and/or terrified but that won't matter cause all those emotions fade away after the first couple downs. Just listen to your coaches, focus on your job and give a total effort on every down. Remember that you are a part of a team, you're in there because the team needs you. Don't worry about being the best, worry about being better.
