Good deal of hiking experience, but camping soon on the dunes around Lake Michigan -- tips or tricks for that?
Just the girlfriend and myself and wondering about things such as trying to set a tent on a beach or sand dune. Even grilling. Any suggestions or ideas that could help for this trip?

Tents that require staking out to set right are not the best choice for beach camping I would use a free standing dome style tent. One trick to set a tent that needs staking is to get really long sections of re-bar 3-4 feet long and pound those in. If fires are permitted no problem make a fire ring with rocks, logs or whatever and top off with a grill, if not permitted bring a portable gas BBQ.
