Andy
A two-time Pulitzer winner (Non-Fiction, Vicious Political Criticism), Andy is described by his agent as "The most handsome man to win this literary tribute. And his sexual prowess? Oh god!" Keep in mind she's a bit of a tart as far as agents go. Currently he is at work on a novel critics describe as "breakthrough." Famed actress Kate Winslet (and smoking hot cutie) seeing an early draft said "This will redefine literature as we know it today - I can't wait to bed him." Andy has remained evasive about the work. He has alluded "It involves squirrels. Lots-and-lots of squirrels." He lives with his cat of 12-years (she has outlasted five girlfriends and a financee). Her nick names include "booger butt" and a term we can't print here. She currently heads his Presidential Exploratory Committee. Besides his literary achievements Andy is credited with inventing ESPN, the number "17", Theodore Roosevelt, the letter "R", the martini and the two-point conversion.
I brush my cat at the very least every other day, yet she is still getting mats in certain spots - what to do?
The mats are mostly on her rear left and right flanks just above her legs, but no where else. Is something causing this and what is the best means to resolve this? The ones are that are already in place, is it safe to just cut them out?
6 AnswersCats1 decade agoGood deal of hiking experience, but camping soon on the dunes around Lake Michigan -- tips or tricks for that?
Just the girlfriend and myself and wondering about things such as trying to set a tent on a beach or sand dune. Even grilling. Any suggestions or ideas that could help for this trip?
Thanks
1 AnswerOther - Outdoor Recreation1 decade agoWhich channel do you think adds most to understanding Conservation and its value?
You feel it's National Geographic, say Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, Travel, PBS? What station influences you the most on appreciating the value, depth and meaning of nature / conservation?
3 AnswersConservation1 decade agoMore people in the U.S. own cats than dogs now. Yet dogs still hold a "cultural" attention. Why so?
His this do to history or our nature? And why have cats gained so much ground in our homes in just the last two decades?

8 AnswersElections1 decade agoThose around Lake Mead are already fighting about water rights. How long till the Great Lakes see this battle?
What do you think is fair and just to have clean water coming into your home? Do those on the shores of Lake Mead or on the Great Lakes or the watershed of the plains have rights that trump those of others?
2 AnswersConservation1 decade agoWhat was the world's tallest building / structure in 1927?
I'm working on a magazine article and this will help give me some perspective on what was feasible construction and engineering wise at that time. Thanks!
3 AnswersTrivia1 decade agoWhat do you think is the most environmentally / conservation friendly past time?
I'm a writer and I've been working on a story about fly fishing in the Midwest. I've found the beauty of this passion very engaging. What activities do you think draw people into thinking more about the "big picture" of the environment while enjoying their interests?
10 AnswersConservation1 decade agoAny ideas on what caused the die-off over 8,000 birds along the shores of Lake Michigan in 2007?
These 8,000 include loons, long tailed ducks, white-winged scoters, grebs, cormorants and even some endangered piping plovers.
So what caused this? Damage to their ecosystem? Invasive species? Climate shift? Combinations of the above? Or something very different?

2 AnswersOther - Environment1 decade agoDo you think that organizations paying to create public confusion on Climate Change are impacting Y!A?
Exxon has admitted to paying $10,000 per article disputing climate change. Three Washington, DC, "think tanks" have confessed to altering data on aspects of planetary warming presented to congress. A coal mining company has been found guilty of paying an Oregon group to create a "list" of scientists disputing climate change -- all the names were fictitious.
Are these "influencers" now here playing a role on Yahoo! Answers?
8 AnswersGlobal Warming1 decade agoU.S. spends $1.5 billion on developing renewable energy; this enough considering Exxon makes $1 billion a day?
The numbers are right. Taken from both the OMB and Exxon itself. I find it very troubling, considering that oil will most likely cease to be a resource in another 40-50 years.
Shouldn't we be spending a staggering more on renewable energy so we can be among the world's leaders?
10 AnswersOther - Environment1 decade agoTurns out Japan's Mafia (yakuza) has a big hand in their continued whaling. How do we end this whale killing?
No one wants to talk about it. Japan is a corrupt nation where the Yakuza, the Japanese Mafia, has very powerful friends in government and influence which extends way beyond the borders of Japan. The fishing unions are mostly controlled by this illegal organization. What steps need to be taken to end the killing of whales?
7 AnswersCurrent Events1 decade agoIs it possible George Mallory & Andy Irvine summited Everest first?
The great explorer and humanitarian Sir Edmund Hillary sadly died today. He his credited with being the first to conquer Mount Everest, along with Tenzing Norgay.
Still, do you think Mallory and Irvine might have reached the 29,028 foot peak in 1924 and died on the descent?
4 AnswersHistory1 decade agoTime we see those in denial of climate change as like Neville Chamberlain dealing with Hitler before WWII?
Chamberlain tossed a third of Europe to Hitler in an effort to stave off what was going to happen regardless. He most likely knew this and was just buying time.
Are those in denial of climate change playing the same dangerous game Chamberlain did, but on a much more global and serious level?
7 AnswersGlobal Warming1 decade agoA polar bear barges in, pins you to your couch and says, "What are you doing to my habitat?" You say?

21 AnswersGlobal Warming1 decade agoArticle ice melted radically faster this summer -- more than forecast. Your view on climate change now?
As reported recently, "Greenland's ice sheet melted nearly 19 billion tons more than the previous high mark, and the volume of Arctic sea ice at summer's end was half what it was just four years earlier, according to new NASA satellite data obtained by The Associated Press."
Additionally, "Just last year, two top scientists surprised their colleagues by projecting that the Arctic sea ice was melting so rapidly that it could disappear entirely by the summer of 2040.
This week, after reviewing his own new data, NASA climate scientist Jay Zwally said: "At this rate, the Arctic Ocean could be nearly ice-free at the end of summer by 2012, much faster than previous predictions."

Will this finally sway those still in denial about climate change?
9 AnswersGlobal Warming1 decade agoTurns out the oil, coal and auto industries have spent billions fighting the science on climate change. Why?
If this is so unfounded why have these corporations been pumping loads of money into the battle to undermine climate change research results?
Wouldn't it make more sense to just pocket the money and (if this is just so much false data and misinformation) let the scientific community prove / disprove climate change?
Why have lobbyists with the Global Climate Coalition (heavily funded by Exxon-Mobile) and the Information Council on the Environment (loaded with money from the coal industry) admitted under sworn testimony they have used the same tactics the tobacco industry did for three decades, if climate change isn't happening?
Strikes me as odd to go to such extreme measures to disprove a "weak" science at best.
17 AnswersGlobal Warming1 decade agoWhat would end the huge rift in opinion on whether or not climate change exists?
Just looking at the questions-and-answers here on Y!A it's obvious that there are two distinct camps on the issue of climate change. Those advocating that the changes in our weather are part of a "normal" cycle and those campaigning that climate change is a result of damage we are doing to the planet.
What would be a "tipping point" for those denying that climate change is occurring because of us and revise their opinion?
27 AnswersGlobal Warming1 decade agoShould your green Christmas tree be "green"? Would you pay more for that benefit?
A recent article talked about Oregon developing environmentally friendly trees that meet an impressive set of standards created by the state (see link below). Would that sway you to change your buying habits and buy a Christmas tree that did the environment good? Would you pay more for that benefit?
6 AnswersGreen Living1 decade agoAre women authors more influential now than ever before?
It was on this day in 1880 that Mary Ann Evans died. We know her better by her pen name -- George Eliot. To be a success she felt it was needed to use a man's name.
Now women are garner significant literary awards and recognition. Have they reached a new peak?
