How do I remove the blocks of colour around the icons on my desktop?

Hey

I recently made a wallpaper paper using Macromedia Fireworks 8. I decided to set it as my desktop wallpaper but when I do, the icons on my desktop are surrounded by colour. I've tried going into desktop settings but I can only seem to change the colour of the blocks around the icons and not remove it.

It seems that this only happens when I set an image as a wallpaper which I have made. If ever I download one and set it, I don't have this problem.

As I've mentioned, I have tried to tweak my display settings and I've researched online and tried all the possible solutions like disabling active desktop but to no avail.

Is there anyway I can remove these blocks of colour?

BTW, my monitor and its drivers are all updated and fine. It's definitely not an hardware issue.
