Is a person who opposes the main character, unwillfully, still considered an antagonist?

An antagonist can be anything feelings, people, even animals. So yes that person COULD be the antagonist but the argument could be made that the force compelling this person to act this way is the antagonist.

I wouldn't consider them an antagonist. Not every story even has an antagonist really.

Might be the Contagonist, who puts obstacles up for the Protagonist to overcome, possibly "for his own good." He still has a negative effect, but it's deflection, not defeat.

That would depends on the main conflict that the protagonist has.
